Amidst the chaos, the villagers sought refuge in a nearby cave. As the conflict escalated, the Iraqi armed forces launched a relentless assault on the area. The ensuing violence and bombings shattered the tranquility of Dekan, leaving its inhabitants in a desperate struggle for survival.
