Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

Part of 1960s 'pink film' movement where directors used exploitation budgets to smuggle art-house experimentation into Japanese cinemas.

Insight

The film-within-film structure mirrors how pink films themselves were consumed — furtively, repeatedly, with audiences becoming complicit witnesses.
