Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Director Alfredo J. Anzola was primarily a documentarian; this was his rare fiction feature, shot entirely on location in Venezuela's Orinoco basin with a mostly local crew.
The real Emilio Stradelli was an Italian-Venezuelan explorer who actually disappeared in the Amazon in 1887—this film invents a happier alternate timeline for him.
