The blues legends Europe went wild for while America slept on them.
Taken from the European tours organised for American blues musicians between 1962 and 1969, this release features performances by several popular blues artists, including: T-Bone Walker, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, etc.
Acting
Every performer is a master of presence.
Production
Captured before blues became rock's costume.
Sound
Raw, imperfect, alive — studio polish would kill this.
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
These European tours literally kept some artists financially alive while American mainstream ignored them. The 'British Invasion' was actually a re-export.
Many of these performances were shot for German TV — the same country that had recently been segregating Black GIs. The irony wasn't lost on the musicians.
