Attenborough collected the first ever audio recording of a lyrebird for the BBC in 1956 — the same bird that would later mimic camera shutters and chainsaws in his famous Life series.
Michael Palin's presence isn't random — he and Attenborough shared a BBC office corridor for decades, and Palin deliberately chose travel documentaries partly to escape Attenborough's impossible shadow.
