The King of Minami franchise ran 33 films from 1992-2000, essentially a V-cinema soap opera for salarymen who dreamed of yakuza danger without the consequences.
Riki Takeuchi reportedly ad-libbed several of Manda's most cutting loan-shark monologues, drawing from actual encounters with Osaka street lenders during his pre-fame years.
